BBC News has reported that the 25 minutes of Fritz Lang's 1927 classic sci-fi movie "Metropolis" have been found in Argentina and now the film has been put back together as Fritz Lang had originally intended. The film is now the proper two and a half hours long.
Visit this BBC News page and watch the news broadcast video in which Stephen Smith reports on the discovery and even shows a few seconds of the missing footage.
This is one of the most influential science fiction movies and Fritz's vision of the future was eerily accurate. We are looking forward to this full version being packaged and released for general viewing.

"officiali- will play edgar allen poe in fall-a-film called the raven, send any poe- gold - my way as i begin this journey into the abyss."
The film, "The Raven" is directed by James McTeigue and tells a fictional tale of the last five days of Poe's life as he joins a detective in the hunt for his fiance's kidnapper. The serial killer is committing murders inspired by Poe's work.
The movie begins filming on Oct 25 in Budapest.
This sounds like it could be a good film, especially if they do the serial killer properly. As long as the serial killer is "worthy" of mimicking Poe's stories, the movie should be good.
FANGORIA will host a free screening of director Adam Gieraschs horror remake NIGHT OF THE DEMONS at the Cinema Village (22 East 12th Street, off University Place) on Friday, October 15 at 11:30 p.m. Gierasch co-wrote the new film with longtime partner Jace Anderson, the two having previously collaborated on AUTOPSY, TOOLBOX MURDERS, MOTHER OF TEARS, MORTUARY and the upcoming FERTILE GROUND. Gierasch will introduce the 35mm screening and conduct a Q&A.
The updated DEMONS due out on DVD and Blu-ray October 19 from Entertainment One, follows a bunch of young party animals who spend Halloween night in a haunted mansion, turning into demons and mutilating themselves and their friends. The film boasts a hot cast led by 13 GHOSTS Shannon Elizabeth as the new Angela (that infernal troublemaker), with stunners like FREDDY VS. JASONs Monica Keena, LAID TO RESTs Bobbi Sue Luther, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNINGs Diora Baird and THE HAZINGs Tiffany Shepis playing the wild girls who turn into wilder she-demons. TERMINATOR 2s Edward Furlong heads the male cast, while TRAILER PARK OF TERRORs Drac Studios provided the films eye-popping makeup FX and monsters. The original films Linnea Quigley has a cameo.
The Fango NIGHT OF THE DEMONS screening will be a free show; to obtain tickets, send an email to fangoscreening@starloggroup.com This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Gareth Jones of Dread Central called NIGHT OF THE DEMONS a modern throwback to a simpler era of horror where boobs and blood were the main attraction, while Steven West of The Horror Review said, If you see only one movie this year featuring demonic anal sexmake it this one. And Suspiriorum at Horrorview.com summed up NIGHT OF THE DEMONS as a shamelessly trashy experience, but one which is solidly entertaining, and a rare remake which doesnt shame the memory of its progenitor.
Check out FANGORIA #291 for exclusive NIGHT OF THE DEMONS photos and interviews. And watch this space for more upcoming Fango screenings. See you at the show!
A troubled evangelical minister agrees to let his last exorcism be filmed by a documentary crew. Filmed in Louisiana and directed by Daniel Stamm, this movie takes a new twist on the concept of exorcism movies.
Starring:
Patrick Fabian, Ashley Bell, Iris Bahr, Tony Bentley,
Tim Masters of the BBC reported that the film "The Human Centipede" is causing quite a stir. The movie is about a twisted doctor that captures people and performs hideous experiments on them. In this movie, he creates a triple conjoined "centipede" out of three unlucky victims. The film plays on the horrors carried out in Nazi Germany during WWII and uses that emotion to its advantage to upset the viewer.
The imagery is enough to make some people ill, while others have found it quite funny. Tim Maters reported that the Japanese fans laughed during the screening. Perhaps that is because they are used to monster movies.
Tim Masters went on with an interview Tom Six, the writer and director of "The Human Centipede". Read the interview here.
A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE MASTER OF THE MACABRE WILLIAM CASTLE
Dont think that a little thing like being dead would preclude me from attending The Return of William Castle retrospective at the Film Forum in New York City beginning Friday, August 27th (http://www.filmforum.org/films/castle.html)
I am very much present. And I do so remember how I loved scaring the living daylights out of all of youBut Im not done yet. Not by a long shot.
I am sure you are dying to know what to expect from me now that Im back with FROM THE GRAVE!, a new tale of terror and my first novel, that will scare a corpse out of his own grave. So, everyone, if you get a whiff of my beloved Don Diego #5 cigars during The Return of William Castle retrospective, dont be alarmed, know Im there with a grin that stretches from here to eternity. And for the faint of heart, beware we might meet in the Cowards Corner.
WHO: My daughter Terry Castle will be on hand Friday night to introduce the opening double bill of The Return of William Castle retrospective. The dear child had a most unusual childhood and has endured the legacy of a father who is indeed larger than life. I wonder what she will say about me? Does she believe Im back FROM THE GRAVE?
WHY: I never met a gimmick I didnt like. Many consider me to be the godfather of the modern horror movie genre and and experiential films. And to think I died in 1977 thinking I was unsuccessful.
Background: I made over forty B movies following a formula for box office success: low-budget chillers geared to the burgeoning Youth-sploitation market including The Tingler, House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts, Macabre, Strait-Jacket (the latter scripted by Psycho's Robert Bloch), and Homicidal which TIME magazine liked better than Psycho. They called me a master of ballyhoo who shamelessly promoted his pictures with highly effective gimmicks, some of which will be lovingly re-created for the Film Forums 15 film retrospective, The Return of William Castle running August 27 through September 6 in NYC.

Dark Sky Films, a division ofMPI Media Group, announced today that in anticipation of the upcoming Halloween horror movie season, Adam Green's HATCHET II will be distributed in theaters across the country beginning Oct 1. The film will be released without an MPAA rating, marking the widest release of an unrated genre film in more than 25 years.
AMC Theatres, under its AMC independent program, will be exhibiting HATCHET II in the top 20 markets across the country. Vitagraph Films is serving as theatrical distributor.
The announcement regarding the HATCHET II release was made jointly by Adam Green with MPI Media Group's Senior Vice President of Acquisitions Greg Newman.
A ferociously fun tribute to the old-school horror sensation slasher movies of the 80's, HATCHET II is the follow-up to the popular original film, which was released theatrically in 2007 and became a sleeper-hit, gaining a wide following on DVD. The cast of HATCHET II features a cavalcade of horror movie icons including Danielle Harris (HALLOWEEN) and Kane Hodder (FRIDAY THE 13th), reprising his role as serial killer Victor Crowley. Also starring are Tony Todd (CANDYMAN) and R.A. Mihailoff (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE).
HATCHET II is having its world premiere this week in London at Fright Fest, the UK's premiere horror and fantasy film festival.
Director Adam Green said, "Having a movie as graphically over the top as HATCHET II come out in major theatres unrated is an absolute dream come true -- not only for the genre fans but for the entire make-up effects crew who normally have to watch their amazing achievements get sliced and diced for theatrical release. This is an important event for the horror genre and I hope the real horror fans support HATCHET II and help change the way genre films are released theatrically from this day forward. Kudos to Dark Sky Films and AMC theaters for truly honoring the spirit of old school American horror and doing this right. Gorehounds won't know what hit them!"
Dark Sky Films' Newman added, "We are thrilled that audiences will not have to wait for a director's cut or unrated version of Adam Green's HATCHET II. On October 1st fans will have the opportunity to see Hatchet II in theaters exactly as it was intended to be seen: full-on, uncut and uncensored! We hope that this unrated release of HATCHET II marks a new trend in providing an uncompromised theatrical experience for genre film lovers nationwide."
"Our AMC independent program embraces diverse storytelling of all types," said AMC Theatres' Vice President, Specialty & Alternative Content, Nikkole Dneson-Randolph. "Bringing a story like HATCHET II to our guests is a natural fit during this time of year and we're excited to share the filmmakers' vision on-screen in its intended state."
Beverly Hills, CA The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted last night to present the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to producer-director Francis Ford Coppola and Honorary Awards to historian and preservationist Kevin Brownlow, director Jean-Luc Godard and actor Eli Wallach. All four awards will be presented at the Academys 2nd Annual Governors Awards dinner on Saturday, November 13, at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center.
Each of these honorees has touched movie audiences worldwide and influenced the motion picture industry through their work, said Academy President Tom Sherak. It will be an honor to celebrate their extraordinary achievements and contributions at the Governors Awards.
Brownlow is widely regarded as the preeminent historian of the silent film era as well as a preservationist. Among his many silent film restoration projects are Abel Gances 1927 epic Napoleon, Rex Ingrams The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (1921) and The Thief of Bagdad (1924), starring Douglas Fairbanks. Brownlow has authored, among others, The Parades Gone By; The War, the West, and the Wilderness; Hollywood: The Pioneers; Behind the Mask of Innocence; David Lean; and Mary Pickford Rediscovered. His documentaries include Hollywood, Unknown Chaplin, Buster Keaton: A Hard Act to Follow, Harold Lloyd: The Third Genius and D.W. Griffith: Father of Film, all with David Gill; Brownlow also directed Cecil B. DeMille: American Epic and Garbo, the latter with Christopher Bird.
Coppola began his film career in the early 1960s making low-budget films with 2009 Honorary Award recipient Roger Corman. By the end of the 1970s he had won five Oscars: Best Picture (The Godfather Part II); Directing (The Godfather Part II) and Writing (Patton, The Godfather, The Godfather Part II). Among his numerous producing credits are American Graffiti, Gardens of Stone, Bram Stokers Dracula, Mary Shelleys Frankenstein, Jack and Tetro. In 1969 he established American Zoetrope, an independent film studio that helped launch the careers of George Lucas and Carroll Ballard, and has since produced more than 30 films, including The Black Stallion, The Outsiders, Lost in Translation and The Good Shepherd.
A key figure in the French New Wave movement, Godard started out writing about cinema before beginning to make his own short films. His influential first feature, Breathless (1960), impressed audiences and filmmakers alike with its jazzy take on the American crime film. For fifty years, Godard has continued to write and direct challenging, and sometimes controversial, films that have established his reputation as one of the seminal modernists in the history of cinema. His more than 70 features include Contempt, Alphaville, Weekend and King Lear. Godard is also credited with having influenced numerous contemporary directors, including Bernardo Bertolucci, Martin Scorsese, Steven Soderbergh and Quentin Tarantino.
Born in Brooklyn in 1915, Wallach made his debut film appearance in Elia Kazans 1956 feature Baby Doll, starring alongside Karl Malden and Carroll Baker. Since then he has starred in more than 50 features including The Magnificent Seven, The Misfits, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Godfather, Part III and The Holiday. Throughout his lengthy career, Wallach has worked with such directors and actors as Francis Ford Coppola, Michael Douglas, Clint Eastwood, John Ford, Clark Gable, John Huston, Sergio Leone, Marilyn Monroe, Al Pacino, Gregory Peck and Kate Winslet. Wallach will next be seen in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
The Honorary Award, an Oscar statuette, is given to an individual for extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy.
The Thalberg Award, a bust of the motion picture executive, is given to a creative producer whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production.
The Governors Awards presentation will be produced for the Academy by producer Sid Ganis with Don Mischer Productions.

After Dark Films CEO Courtney Solomon continues the momentum of After Dark Originals A New Brand of Fear with his announcement of the bonechilling 5th film, Fertile Ground. Writer/Director Adam Gierasch (Autopsy, Night of the Demons) co-wrote this film together with Jace Anderson. The film stars Leisha Hailey (The L Word) and Gale Harold (Queer as Folk, Desperate Housewives).
Emily and Nate Weaver leave the city for the rural comfort of Nates ancestral home in the country. Once there, Emily is plagued by horrifying visions and haunted by the ghosts inhabiting their isolated new home. When Nates behavior undergoes a strange and fearful metamorphous, Emily fears she might be the latest target in a murderous tradition. Producer Solomon states, Leisha Hailey is completely convincing as a woman in peril. As the plot thickens, twists and surprises unfold that keep the viewer engaged and in constant suspense.
Fertile Ground was shot in Iowa, the home state of Executive Producer Stephanie Caleb. Release date for Fertile Ground and all eight Originals is scheduled for January 2011. The series was developed in partnership with Lionsgate.
After Dark Films made an unprecedented commitment to the production of eight original horror films this year under the After Dark Originals A New Brand of Fear label, continuing the Companys mantra of supporting up and coming feature directors. The creation of the Originals slate is just another example of the Companys commitment to the independent film industry.
Unlike After Darks acquisitions slate Horrorfest 8 Films to Die For, After Dark Originals are wholly financed and produced by After Dark Films. The ADO slate runs the gamut of the genre, from paranormal phenomena, black magic, and vengeful ghosts to psychological trauma, murderous psychopaths, vampires and the undead. After Dark polled its fans and is delivering the kinds of movies they asked for!
Writers: Adam Gierasch & Jace Anderson Director: Adam Gierasch (Autopsy, Night of the Demons) Cast: Gale Harold (Nate), Leisha Hailey (Emily), JoNell Kennedy (Brittany)

At Star Wars Celebration V, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced that the complete Star Wars Saga will come to Blu-ray Disc with a worldwide release in Fall 2011. The Star Wars Blu-ray Box Set will feature all six live-action Star Wars feature films utilizing the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with extensive special features including documentaries, vintage behind-the-scenes moments, interviews, retrospectives and never-before-seen footage from the Lucasfilm archives.
"I wish I could say it was coming out this year," said Lucas, "but it will come out next year."
"Blu-ray is the absolute best way to experience Star Wars at home in pristine high definition," said George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars Saga. "The films have never looked or sounded better."
Star Wars fans were treated to a glimpse of bonus material, in the form of a long-lost deleted scene from Return of the Jedi. The scene has long been talked about online -- a sequence that depicts Luke Skywalker assembling his new, green-bladed lightsaber prior to infiltrating Jabba the Hutt's palace. After completing the Jedi weapon, Luke stashes it in R2-D2's dome. What makes the Jedi deleted clip so remarkable is that it made it all the way to post production before it was cut, so it is a rare example of a cut scene with completed visual effects and music.
Actor Mark Hamill came out to describe the scene, remarking that once again his original introduction in a Star Wars film was cut out (his Anchorhead introduction was, of course, cut from A New Hope). Luke's intro is purposely played as ominous, with his face cowled in shadows and his intentions unclear. "I had the black cloak, the glove, and I thought, wow, this time around I get to be the antagonist. Little did I know I was predicting the path of the prequels," said Hamill, noting the similarities to Luke in this scene and Anakin Skywalker's appearance.

METAL HEADS v ZOMBIES.....When a cruise ship full of Caribbean tourists turn into zombies, two metal fans must battle against zombie Armageddon armed only with a baseball bat, booze and bagpipes.
By Emmy Award winning director Bob Carruthers, The 75 minute-long film follows a small group of people fighting off marauding zombies who get to the Cayman Islands on a mystery cruise ship that shows up with no one on board or at least, no one alive. "What I liked was this idea of the cruise ship that disappears in the Bermuda Triangle and appears in North Side with no passengers. There are lots of opportunity for satire, like zombies in Hawaiian shirts and shorts," Mr. Carruthers said.
"It follows all the conventions of the genre. People get trapped and besieged," he said. Although the film is about zombies and people being bitten and killed, it also promises plenty of comic relief."
The film also Features a soundtrack heavier than a container load of overweight elephants, with music by EMPEROR, IHSHAN, OCTOBER FILE, ALTAR OF PLAGUES, WINTERFYLLETH, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, ANAAL NATHRAKH, ABSU, OBSIDIAN, DIVINITY, WOODENSTHRONE, BLOOD OF KINGU, ALTAR OF PLAGUES and more. Soundtrack due to be released on Candlelight records.
Toronto After Dark Film Festival is thrilled to officially announce its complete lineup of new horror, sci-fi, action and cult films that will have their regional premieres at our 5th Annual edition this August 13-20, 2010 at the citys legendary Bloor Cinema. The 16 amazing feature films at the core of the festival include a number that have created a storm of interest on the genre festival circuit as well some more recent finds that will be a treat for fans to to discover!
Highlights include cult horror sensation THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE and the killer tire movie RUBBER that captivated audiences at Cannes! Other fun items on the cinematic menu include Japanese cult mayhem (ROBOGEISHA), supernatural chills (Eli Roths THE LAST EXORCISM), brutal Roman action (Neil Marshalls CENTURION), Billy Zane as a zombie slayer (EVIL IN THE TIME OF HEROES) and Adrien Brody as a psychotic drug dealer (Sundance midnight hit HIGH SCHOOL). AUG 11 Update: Our one-minute festival preview trailer gives fans a good sense of what to expect, with shots from most of the films playing:
Below is the overview of the films screening, along with links to their festival site pages, where you can watch trailers and read more detailed synopses:
OPENING CREATURE FEATURE We open the festival on a hugely crowd-pleasing note with the International Premiere of the hilarious new monster comedy, THE LAST LOVECRAFT (Fri, Aug 13, 7pm), a story about a group of social misfits battling an assortment of sea monsters trying to take over the earth!
ZOMBIES WELCOME This years ever-popular Zombie Appreciation Night where those dressed as the undead get a special deal on ticket prices, features a double helping of fun zombie carnage: DOGHOUSE (Sat, Aug 14, 7pm), the riotous zombie comedy that took Britain by storm last year is followed by the deranged zombie action flick EVIL IN THE TIME OF HEROES (Sat, Aug 14, 9.45pm) which features none other than Billy Zane as an immortal Greek zombie killer!
JAPANESE TREATS Fans of outrageous Japanese genre cinema will also be delighted with a double dose of cinematic mayhem this year, in the form of the splatterific sci-fi horror action mashup ROBOGEISHA (Sun, Aug 15, 7pm) and the equally mad and bloody fight sequences that make up much of ALIEN VS NINJA (Mon, Aug 16, 9.45pm) a film that completely delivers on its title!
SCARES IN THE DARK Those looking for a good fright should check out the hotly anticipated Eli Roth produced new scarefest, THE LAST EXORCISM (Mon, Aug 16, 7pm), as well as the welcome return of our favourite posse of Thai horror filmmakers with five new tales of of fear set to make fans jump out of their seats in PHOBIA 2 (Tue, Aug 17, 7pm)! The creepy new sci-fi thriller CARGO (Sun, Aug 15, 4.15pm) also brings its share of chills, but this time the outbreak of fear takes place on a deep space voyage.
NEW BRITISH INVASION This year Toronto After Dark showcases three new flicks from some of Britains most talented genre filmmakers: whether its Neil Marshalls brutal Roman action piece CENTURION (Wed, Aug 18, 7pm), Philip Ridleys demonic thriller HEARTLESS (Wed, Aug 18, 9.45pm) or Christopher Smiths medieval witchcraft tale BLACK DEATH (Thu, Aug 19, 7pm), theres something to delight any fan who likes their Brit flicks on the dark side.
EXTREME CAUTION HORROR We feel I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE (Thu, Aug 19, 9.45pm), Anchor Bays hugely anticipated and incredibly graphic remake of the already notoriously violent cult classic of the same name, deserves a category unto itself. Dont say we didnt warn you!
CULT DISCOVERIES A fantastic eclectic cast (Natasha Lyonne, Thomas Dekker, Noah Segan, Mink Stole, Peaches Christ, Elvira) chew all kinds of scenery in the velvet curtain movie theatre set cult horror flick ALL ABOUT EVIL (Tues, Aug 17, 9.45pm) that will seem be perfect viewing fare at our very own cult venue, the Bloor Cinema! While a stoner comedy may not seem like the most obvious fit for Toronto After Dark, when you see Adrien Brodys crazed performance as drug dealer Psycho Ed, amongst too many WTF moments to mention in the Sundance hit HIGH SCHOOL (Sun, Aug 15, 9.45pm), youll see why we programmed this offbeat piece of cinematic madness!
BIZARRE HORROR TO CLOSE THE FEST Toronto After Dark celebrates the end of its 5th Year on a wonderfully bizzarre note: to start with we treat fans with RUBBER (Fri, Aug 20, 7pm), the tale of a Killer Tire with feelings which was perhaps the most talked about horror film at the Cannes Film Festival this year! Then things get even freakier, with our Closing Gala, THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE (Fri, Aug 20, 9.45pm) a twisted tale of one scientists quest to perfect a disgusting surgical procedure. The film has grossed out fans at festival screenings across the globe, ignited a frenzy on discussion boards and youtube (two milllion views of the trailer and counting), but no-one has dared to screen the film in Toronto until now!
PLUS: INCREDIBLE SHORTS, GUESTS, PARTIES, PUB NIGHTS! While the Feature Films at Toronto After Dark typically take centre stage, be sure to also check out SHORTS AFTER DARK (Sat, Aug 14, 4.15pm), a kick-ass collection of outstanding new genre short films from around the world, as well as CANADA AFTER DARK homegrown mini-gems that screen as the opening acts for all our features. We also expect a number of FILMMAKER GUESTS to be in attendance to introduce their films and host Q&As with fans and join us at our SOCIAL EVENTS including After Parties and nightly Pub Socials (details to be announced closer to the festival).
Major hotties Erin Heatherton, Chanel Iman and Candice Swanepoel flaunted their supermodel figures at the Victoria’s Secret SoHo store in New York City on Tuesday… and delighted the public (and us) with their colorful outfits, long and thin legs, tiny waists, pretty faces and lots of smiles.
“I would encourage anyone to first speak with a therapist. To try and figure out where this want comes from, because a lot of times it’s not related to your teeth or your nose or your chin, the surgery is not going to alleviate that insecurity for you.”
“If, then, you feel, ‘This is something that I want to do,’ then do it. It’s amazing that we have the technology to do the stuff that we do.”
Teacup-sized designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have big plans for their designer clothing line the Row. So big, in fact, that they’re going to start with the White House. According to the twins, their high-end label would be perfect for Michelle Obama. Gushes Ashley, “I’d love to get Michelle Obama in the Row. The simple suits and things.” As most people with the power of sight know, the Olsens are well-known for dressing like Janis Joplin and Cousin It on a bender (Historical note: this may have actually happened). We doubt Mary-Kate and Ashley have the same definition for the word “simple” — and, while we’re at it, the word “suit” — as the rest of America. However, the past few years have seen the twins make a glacially slow move away from Oscar the Grouch chic and toward a sleeker, albeit still bizarrely oversized, wardrobe. Perhaps Mary-Kate abd Ashley have been wearing such enormous frocks this entire time as a way to make a statement to the 5’10” FLOTUS. A statement like, “We refuse to make clothes that fit anyone beside you, Michelle; we don’t care how many car doors or street cleaners we must get caught before you buy them.”
But fit isn’t the only reason the First Lady should grab her AmEx and helicopter over to the mall. Says Ashley, “It’s all made in America, so why not?” Good point, Olsen #2! Unfortunately Mrs. Obama caught so much flack for flashing her bare arms after becoming First Lady, we can only imagine what FOX News would have to say if she showed up in a formal denim jumpsuit or a white satin fem-tuxedo. Rush Limbaugh would have a heart attack for days. [Photo: Getty Images] - thefablife.com
If we had a nickel for every time Rihanna got a tattoo, we’d be rich. (And we’d be even richer if we included the times she gave tattoos to people, too).
So it shouldn’t be surprising that on her current trip to New York, RiRi popped into a local parlor and got yet another tattoo on her neck. We’re still not so clear on what that thing actually says - something “flower”? Or “forever”? Maybe?

James Van Der Beek got hitched (again) earlier this month...and truly looks like he couldn't be happier with new wife (and mom-to-be!) Kimberly Brook.
The actor, who tied the knot at the Kabbalah Centre in Tel Aviv, Israel, called the ceremony a sacred union of souls. "For us, there was tremendous freedom in not having to worry about the food getting cold or the DJ playing ‘YMCA' again!" he explained to Life & Style. (Van Der Beek met Brook in Israel while studying Kabbalah there a year ago.)
From the looks of it, the Dawson's Creek heartthrob won't be single again anytime soon (sorry, ladies). (eonline.com)
While she cleans up her act, Lindsay Lohan at least won't have to worry about one person breathing down her neck.
Marsha Revel, the Los Angeles Judge who came down hard on the troubled starlet and sent her to jail for failing to abide by the terms of her probation, has recused herself from Lohan's case after prosecutors raised objections to her handling of the case.
"Judge Revel recused herself from this case on Friday," said Los Angeles Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini. "We can't confirm any reason. It's [been] reassigned to Judge [Elden] Fox."
E! News has learned that Revel was pressured by prosecutors into removing herself from overseeing Lindsay's probation. According to a source, there was a meeting last Friday between District Attorney Danette Meyers, Lohan's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley and Her Honor where the prosecutor objected to Revel making several phone calls to a rehab clinic without her being present for the communications.
The DA's office took specific issue with the judge selecting the Morningside treatment facility, which was not on the list of recommended facilities for the 24-year-old actress once she was released from the slammer. Instead, Meyers suggested UCLA as the best place for Lohan.
"UCLA was always the first choice for the DA," says the source.
In addition, the source also tells E! News another factor in Revel's decision to step down was when O.J. Simpson Dream Teamer Robert Shapiro, who wasn't even Lohan's attorney of record (but was reportedly representing her), showed up at the courthouse without the district attorney present.
In legal proceedings, usually a judge cannot meet with one side without the other side being present.
Meyers was reportedly all set to file official paperwork formally objecting to Revel remaining on the case when the latter excused herself.
"Bottom line is we objected and she took herself off the case," added the source.
Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox will now take over. He's had quite a bit of experience handling celebrities scofflaws, having presided over former Prison Break star Lane Garrison's manslaughter case and Winona Ryder's infamous shoplifting trial. (eonline.com)

First of all, whoever you think it is, you're probably wrong.
And for that, we praise the two-year-old's mother, who no doubt learned a thing or two about keeping her child out of the public eye (though sadly, not by example), thanks to her infamous sibling.
But it was the civilian proud papa who couldn't contain himself and posted this adorable shot on his Twitter page. You can bet he's gonna hear a thing or two—or 101—from his on-again baby mama. So who is it?
It's Maddie Aldridge!
The daughter of Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldrige (and niece of Britney Spears) was snapped by her dad at a birthday party last month and promptly shown off. She turned 2 on June 19.
Authorities have confirmed to E! News that Fantasia Barrino's hospitalization Monday night was the result of a suicide attempt.
Per a just released police report and 911 tape, an EMT unit responded to an emergency call placed at approximately 8:55 p.m. from Barrino's home in Glynmoor Lakes in which an unidentified caller reported that a woman "had taken a bottle of aspirin and she's slowly losing consciousness."
Listen to the 911 Call The caller, who appears to be a male and made the call from outside the house, answered various questions from the dispatcher, saying the victim (later identified by her manager as Barrino) was "halfway" awake, breathing and not violent.
"The family tried to put her in the shower to try and keep her awake," said the individual.
At that point, the dispatcher ordered them to take her out of the shower while they waited for an ambulance.
The "I Believe" crooner was subsequently transported to nearby CMC-Pineville Medical Center after ingesting the medication, where she remains in stable condition.
The suicide attempt took place just days after Fantasia was named as the other woman in a divorce petition filed by Paula Cook, a North Carolina woman who accused Barrino of having an affair with her husband, Antwaun Cook.
Yesterday, the entertainer's manager, Brian Dickens, suggested that the overwhelming media attention from the suit and the stress of the situation may have left Barrino in a fragile emotional state. (eonline.com)
Wow. Has Jennifer Lopez been eliminated by American Idol before she ever even took her seat on the judges' panel? Not even William Hung got the hook so fast!
Lopez was reportedly a candidate to join Idol as a replacement for Simon (and most likely also Kara) but talks have quite possibly collapsed. Here's the latest:
According to a People.com source, plans to hook up Jenny from the Block with American Idol collapsed because—wait for it—J.Lo is kind of a diva. According to the source, "Her demands got out of hand...Fox had just had enough."
Network Fox and production company Fremantle Media both replied to request for comment with a big, fat...wait for it..."No comment." American Idol seems to be having a hard time getting butts in seats at that judges' table. After letting go of Paula Abdul, and losing Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres, only original judge Randy Jackson is rumored to be sticking around. Fox had hoped to have contracts in place before meeting with reporters at least week's Press Tour, but told us that no deals were in place yet.
Kara DioGuardi also reportedly has been let go, and according to her dad, New York state politician Joe DioGuardi, she's not totally thrilled with how it's been handled so far. He told Capital Tonight, "Would you believe that she did not hear and still has not heard anything? She read it the way you did and I did. In fact, her disappointment is that's the way she's being treated, and she feels that's not proper."
Now with So You Think You Can Dance's Nigel Lythgoe back on as an executive producer, perhaps he can give her a courtesy call?
As Randy Jackson told us last week, "The only thing that's for sure [about the upcoming 10th season] is Ryan [Seacrest]. Nothing has been decided...If Jennifer Lopez is a judge I would be very happy. I love her." Somewhere, a dawg is howling with sadness.
Did you think Lopez and Idol were a good match? Are you disappointed by this turn of events, or do you prefer your Lopez recording albums and shooting movies? (eonline.com)

While ya may not think Montana Fishburne's decision to jumpstart her Hollywood career by starring in a hardcore porn film was the best route to take, she may be on to something.
She recently told E! News she's wants a career like Sasha Gray, an adult film star who's recently been finding a load of mainstream success.
On that note, we give you five porn stars who could also prove to be inspirations for the 18-year-old celebrity spawn. Hey, ya never know, but she could end up working alongside the likes of Johnny Depp, Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh and hitmaker Kid Rock, among others…
Sasha Gray: The star of such adult fare as Sasha Grey's Anatomy, House of Sex & Domination and Teenage Whores, Gray began her career just four years ago at age 18. Not only is she a regular on the current season of Entourage, but two years ago, she starred in Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh's indie flick, The Girlfriend Experience. She also reportedly studied theater acting from age 12 to 18. Riley Steele: After making her porn debut two years ago in Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge, she'll soon be seen starring in the Weinstein Company's upcoming summer thriller Piranha 3D opposite Elisabeth Shue and Jerry O'Connell. And, as we were the first to tell you, one scene shows her making out with Gossip Girl star Jessica Szohr.
Jenna Jameson: Known as the "Queen of Porn," Jameson has gone from appearing in XXX-ers like Up and Cummers 10 and 11 to becoming a brand herself with various non-porny products sold at high-end retailers like Colette and Saks Fifth Avenue. She's voiced an animated version of herself in Family Guy and has appeared in various video games, including Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. Not only has she debated at Oxford, but her 2004 memoir, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale spent six weeks on The New York Times Best Seller List.
Traci Lords: Arguably the porn star to have the most mainstream success, Lords has also lashed out against her adult film career, insisting she was coerced into it from a very early age. She reportedly appeared in 100 films before she was even 18 years old. Even so, her post-porn career includes appearances in Gilmore Girls, Will & Grace, Melrose Place, the Francis Ford Coppola produced sci-fi series First Wave and most famously playing Wanda Woodward opposite Johnny Depp in director John Waters' Cry-Baby.
Ron Jeremy: Known for his unusually large manhood, Jeremy is one of the few male porn stars who have had some mainstream success. While he's listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as "Most Appearances in Adult Films" for the 2,000 films he's performed, he worked as a consultant on 91/2 Weeks and Boogie Knights. He's appeared on television shows like Family Guy and Nash Bridges and went on a date with Kathy Griffin during the third season of My Life on the D-List. He was seen on the big screen in Ghostbusters, The Rules of Attraction and plenty of low-budget indies like One-Eyed Monster, about a killer alien that takes over his signature body part. He's also popped up in music videos by Kid Rock, Guns N' Roses, Everclear, Moby and Sublime. Like, Jameson, Jeremy spoke at Oxford in 2005. (eonline.com)

Bringing confirmation to recent rumors, Kristen Stewart has a new "On the Road" co-star in actor Tom Sturridge.
According to Gossip Cop, the English actor - who happens to be good pals with Robert Pattinson - has indeed been cast in the Jack Kerouac adapted project.
Talk of Tom being in the film kicked off after Miss Stewart was spotted spending time with him up in Montreal at the beginning of the week, with his rep having since told Gossip Cop, “He is filming in Canada at the moment for On The Road."
Directed by Walter Salles, "On the Road" is about "a young man who sets out to travel the roads and railways of America." (Hollywood Gossip)
Slacker rocker Scott Pilgrim about to take over the world in the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. One of the ways rock stars take over is by rocking wild fashions onstage. Think bizarre headgear, racy lingerie, sequins galore, and sky-high platforms.
But that doesn’t mean they always pull their crazy stage gear off. Let’s see who overwhelms, who underwhelms and who just…whelms in the arena.

In the Us Weekly that's sitting on stands directly next to your dual-colored gummi worms, Alanis Morisette, 36, announced in the "25 Things You Don't Know About Me" section that she is pregnant. Bring on the "irony, but hey...that's not really irony!" jokes!
Morisette married rapper Souleye, 30, in May at their house in Los Angeles, and they're "very excited to embark on this journey with each other." That's pretty much all the news that's been released on this item, which is good because that means they won't be investing in any one of the baby apps for iPhones...like the one called "Baby Monitor," which if you place an iPhone to your belly and it detects noise, it places a phone call to a number you programmed and the person on the other line can listen and try to figure out if the baby is switching positions or is just bored out of his little, still-undeveloped but very promising mind.
Nah, they'll probably play it old school and hash out her rendition of "My Humps." She's gotta practice lullabies, anyway. And if she doesn't want the kid to get to 8th grade English and have a completely distorted understanding of irony, she'll stay away from that song and use "You Oughta Know" in its place.
